What would you like to be remembered for?
This week, 7–13 September 2026, is Remember A Charity Week. It brings an opportunity to think about the causes and values that matter to us, and the difference we might continue to make for generations to come.
This year’s Remember A Charity campaign invites us to think about how we would like to be remembered. We will all leave a legacy through the people we love, the things we care about and the difference we make during our lives. For some people, that legacy can also include supporting a charity that matters to them through a gift in their Will.
At the Down’s Syndrome Research Foundation UK, gifts left in Wills have made an enormously important contribution to our work. They help us to support research that can improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of people with Down syndrome, not just today, but for future generations.
That feels particularly significant in 2026, our 30th anniversary year. For three decades, DSRF UK has worked to promote high-quality research into Down syndrome, and to advocate for the rights of people with Down syndrome. A legacy gift can help ensure that this work continues, long into the future.
Remembering DSRF UK in your Will does not mean choosing between your family and a charity. Your loved ones naturally come first. Once you have made provision for them, you may wish to leave a fixed amount, a particular asset, or a share of what remains of your estate to a cause you care about. Every gift, whatever its size, can make a difference.
If this is something you are considering, we have put together a practical guide explaining some of the steps involved and the different ways a charitable gift can be included in a Will:

Making or changing a Will is an important decision, and we recommend taking appropriate professional advice.

A gift in your Will is a way of looking beyond today: helping research continue, knowledge grow and opportunities improve for generations of people with Down syndrome still to come.
Thank you for thoughtfully considering this!
